Vietnamese American to
Protest the Communist Flag at
The University of Texas
at Arlington
Appeal for Support
Dear
American Veterans of Vietnam War, and VFW Veterans,
This is Michael Do,
President of Vietnamese Veterans Association of Austin.
Last month, during the
International Week at UT/Arlington, a student from
Communist Vietnam-elected president of the
International Student Office at UT/Arlington- banned
the Vietnamese Tradition and Heritage flag (Yellow flag
that has been displayed at Engineering College Hall for more
than 20 years) and allowed only the communist Vietnam
flag (Red flag). The Vietnamese American Students
started a protest campaign. (for more info, please,

After meeting with the
representatives of VSA (Vietnamese Student
Association) and Vietnamese American Community at Fort
Worth-Dallas, UTA staff agreed to display the Yellow flag
from now on in any events,
but refused to remove the Red one. The letter from from
Mr. James Spaniolo, UTA President explaining the reason
he would not remove the Red flag can be read in the
above webpage..
In term of freedom of
speech, he is unquestionably right. And as the fighters
for freedom, we have no right to oppose his act.

But this issue is not
simple as it looks. The Vietnamese Communist party
passed the "Resolution 36" couple of years ago in order
to infiltrate into overseas Vietnamese population in all
aspects of life. Winning this, they can prove to the
world that they are winning the support from all
Vietnamese people abroad. This is another war after the
end of Vietnam War in 1975. We, overseas Vietnamese, are
not continuing the war; but are involved in the struggle
for Freedom, Democracy, Dignity, Human Rights for our
people. Hundreds of ex-Communist Party Members have been
joining the notorious dissidents to stand up against the
malicious Communist Party, which is now merely a gang of
Mafia in Vietnam.
We need your support,
Ladies and Gentlemen, as you have ever helped us in the
Vietnam War and in all the activities to promote our
noble cause in the past years in Austin.
Please, send email to Mr.
James D. Spaniolo, President of UTA
(Phone:
817.272.2101
Fax: 817.272.5656

to convince him to remove
the red flag that is not necessarily displayed in front
of thousands of Vietnamese refugees who see the red flag
as symbol of terror, persecution, and tyranny.
Thanks you very much
May God bless you all.
Michael Do
